Dacoity gang in Garo Hills caught, pistol and bullets seized

TURA, Oct 15: A three member dacoity gang suspected to be involved in various heinous crimes including kidnapping, vehicle lifting and extortion have been busted by West Garo Hills police from Rajabala region during a special counter-insurgency operation launched late in the night on Friday.

According to West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Singh Rathore, police had obtained credible information about the movement of the gang in the Rajabala region of the plains belt.

“We launched the operation around 8 PM Friday in the village of Nikikona, PO Rajabala, Police station jurisdiction Phulbari. The team from Phulbari police intercepted three criminals and seized a pistol with a magazine and three live rounds of ammunition,” said SP Rathore.

He said that a case has been registered and investigation is underway into the antecedents of the arrested criminals.

The police also seized from the arrested criminals a motorcycle (ML08 G 4295), a scooty and mobile phones.

The arrested criminals have been identified as Silman R. Marak (30 yrs), S/o Ranjit M. Sangma, R/o Komilapara, PO – Garobadha, West Garo Hills, Elias Alom (24 yrs), S/o Torifullah Dewani, R/o Babupara, PO – New Bhaitbari, West Garo Hills and Nur Hussain (22 yrs), S/o Aziar Rahman, R/o Gomaijhora Sialkandi, PO – Gomaijhora, West Garo Hills.
