Dibrugarh district administration issues 144 CrPC amid erosion crisis in Mohanaghat

Dibrugarh April 25: After massive erosion was witnessed in the Mohanaghat area in Dibrugarh, the district administation has issued 144 CrPc and has banned sand mining in the area of Mohanaghat area.

The District administration has strictly prohibited sand mining activities in the area of Mohanaghat riverbed, DTP dyke and Aithan dyke and across the bank of the river Brahmaputra.

The order stated that, “sand mining activity in the area may have lead to the damage in the riverbed, DTP Dyke and Aithan Dyke owing to the necessity of the situation, the order was passed ex-parte Under Section 144(2)Cr.PC. as an emergent step to prevent any untoward incident likely to cause breach of public peace and tranquility in the area, endangering life and property,” .

The order further stated that anyone aggrieved by this order may approach the competent authority for modification or waiver of the order.

Any violation of this order is punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
