Dr Warr served show-cause notice over alleged ‘rude behaviour’

Must read

Shillong, May 30: The Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman Warr on Monday said he will reply to show cause notice with regards to the May 27 incident at old NIFT campus at Pasteur Institute and will take future course of action in the coming days.

“I have received the show cause notice today late afternoon and will reply accordingly. Future course of action will also be taken up in the next few days,” Dr Warr told reporters.

He informed that the show cause notice was issued by the Principal Secretary, Health Sampath Kumar based on the complaint submitted by the Director of Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH), Shillong Sandra Abert.

“Her written complaint to the Principal Secretary which had in turn been used to issue a show cause notice to the DHS is for all to see and judge,” he said.

Further, the DHS (MI) had expressed his resentment as to why a self-styled Director is being given utmost importance and favour than the senior officers of the department by the Principal Secretary Health and “this will unfold of how it goes in the next few days”.

On the allegation of “bad behavior”, Dr Warr said, “That our society is a matrilineal society and my mother who is still alive and well by God grace has been imparting behavioural lessons to me since I was small and behavioural lessons were also imparted to me and my schoolmates, collegemates by my respected teachers and I have reached this far because of the lessons which I have learnt along the way.”

“Once again, I reiterate that the incident that occurred on May 27 at NIFT campus (old campus) wherein it was alleged that I have gone with men to remove the furniture and equipment from the classroom is concocted, false and with a clear intention to malign my image for reasons best known to the persons coming up with fairy tales,” he maintained.

He further added, “That the self-style professor and director IIPH Shillong Sandra Albert stating that I had crossed the line by behaving rudely with the students and faculty members of the institute is way out of line and she should understand and I am letting her know now that I do not need any behavioural lessons from someone unknown to me and whom I have scant respect.”

Dr Warr said that the IIPH Director was never in the picture and that she had only stated from hearsay only and “dared to level allegations against a senior officer of the government and that too the DHS (MI)”.

The incident was related to an alleged abuse against the two lady officers of the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) – Project Director and the Deputy Director – by the Registrar of the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) over the allotment of rooms at the old NIFT campus at the Pasteur Institute.

The land is under the Director of Health Services, who is in charge of all medical institutions.
