Jowai, Oct 27: The Draft Electoral Rolls of Special Summary Revision (SSR) for the four constituencies 1- Nartiang, 2- Jowai, 3- Raliang and 4- Mowkaiaw with reference to 01.01.2024 as qualifying date have been published and were distributed on Friday by Deputy Commissioner B.S Sohliya to political representatives in the conference Hall of the office of Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District.

Deputy Commissioner Sohliya said that the draft electoral roll of special summary revision for the four constituencies of the district have been published and the time provide is from October 27, 2023 to December 9, 2023. During this period, he urged cooperation from all the political parties to ensure accuracy of the electoral role and to prevent any eligible voters from being left out, and also ensure that only genuine claims are considered to prevent error in the electoral roll. He also urged eligible youths who have reached the age of 18 to submit their application for inclusion in the electoral roll, encouraging their active participation in the electoral process.

B. Blah, ADC (Election), detailed the summary revision, informing that the period of filing claims and objections is from October 27, 203 to December 6, 2023. She mentioned that individuals can apply for inclusion of names in the roll, objection to any particular or any entry like date of birth, correction of names, address shifting in form 6, 6A, 7 and 8 as may be appropriate. She also mentioned that the District Election office will be conducting a SVEEP programme during this period.

She further informed that during the revision period special campaigns will be done on November 11, 2023 and November 18, 2023 where BLO’s will be available in their respective polling stations to facilitate the voters.
