East Khasi Hills Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 1.5 Crore, Arrest Two Traffickers

Shillong, May 17: In yet another successful operation against illicit drug trafficking in the state, the East Khasi Hills district police arrested two interstate drug traffickers and seized Heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore.

The operation was carried out by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the East Khasi Hills district police on May 16.

Taking to X, DGP, Meghalaya L R Bishnoi congratulated the ANTF. He said, “This sends a powerful message: Meghalaya stands united against drugs! Let’s continue this fight for a #DrugsFreeMeghalaya!”

In recent days, there have been two major drug-related arrests in the East Jaintia Hills district. The first was on May 1, and another was one week later, on May 8.

On May 1, Police recovered 25 soap cases containing Heroin worth Rs. 2 Crore and arrested one trafficker. In the second operation, on May 8, three persons were arrested with heroin and ganja worth Rs 15 crore from Lumshnong village in East Jaintia Hills.
