Five teachers honoured at 64th Teachers’ Day celebration in Tura

Tura, Sept 5: The 64th Teachers’ Day celebration was held at the District Auditorium in Tura on Friday. Organized by the Department of Education, West Garo Hills, the event was filled with great enthusiasm to honor the vital role educators play in society.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Vibhor Agarwal, along with Ruby Z. Das, Addl. DSEL, Tura; R. T. K. Sangma, DSEO and Bardy A. Sangma, SDSEO, as well as numerous teachers and students.

A highlight of the day was the recognition of five dedicated teachers who were presented with appreciation awards for their outstanding contributions. The honored educators were, Sorash Marak, Headmaster of Dalamgre LP School, Dalu; Luckyrina A. Sangma, Headmistress of Perennial Upper Primary School, Anogre; Bikromjit A. Sangma, Scout Master at Tura Public School; Taringchi S. Sangma, Guide at Baden Powell Memorial LP School, Rongkon and Nishita Saha, Assistant Teacher at Christian Girls’ Hr. Sec. School, Tura. Nishita Saha expressed her joy and dedication to the teaching profession, sharing her heartfelt gratitude during the event.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner, Vibhor Agarwal spoke on the crucial role teachers have in shaping the minds and lives of students, comparing their influence to that of parents. He expressed that teaching is a noble profession that is often undervalued. He conveyed the importance of acknowledging and valuing their contributions to society and urged for a greater societal emphasis on the significance of teachers.

The celebration featured a variety of cultural performances, adding a vibrant touch to the event. A special song was presented by Fr. Jimberth K. Marak and Dore Meghania T. Sangma. Students of Nivedita Girls UP & Secondary School, Tura and the Tura Public School delivered a captivating dance and song performance, respectively. The ceremony concluded on a high note with the singing of the Teachers’ Anthem.
