Jowai, Aug 07: The school management of HK Singh Memorial Secondary School in Jowai organized a grand felicitation ceremony on Monday to honour the football team set to represent the state in the U-14 Subroto Cup at Bangalore.
The event took place at the school auditorium, graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Wailadmiki Shylla, the MLA of Jowai Constituency, who served as the Chief Guest, and A. Syiem, the DSEO West Jaiñtia Hills, as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Syiem congratulated the young footballers who would be carrying the state’s name on a national platform and urged the team to put in their best efforts and strive for excellence, emphasizing the significance of hard work in achieving success and bringing laurels to the state.
Shylla also echoed similar sentiments, and encouraged the team to persevere and make the state proud. He drew attention to the historic opportunity that awaits them, mentioning that no team from the state has ever lifted the prestigious U-14 Subroto Cup.
Shylla also pledged financial support, offering a sum of Rs. 1 lakh to each team from Jowai Constituency that qualifies to represent the state in future editions of the Subroto Cup.
The event witnessed heartfelt speeches from distinguished individuals, including the principal of the school, T. Passah, and N. Passah, amongst others, who expressed their pride in the team’s achievements and wished them success in their upcoming endeavour.
