Four fishermen drowned in Dumboor lake

Agartala, March 25: In a tragic incident, four fishermen died when their makeshift platform collapsed due to Norwester winds at Dumboor Lake in Tripura’s Dhalai district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Haridas Das (46), Jyotish Mallik(50), Pradip Das (45) and the name of the missing fisherman is Sanjit Nandi(55).

According to officials, three of the four bodies of fisherman were recovered so far and search was on to locate the fourth body.

“The makeshift platform collapsed on Saturday night due to the Norwester wind and rain and the four fisherman fell into the deep water of the lake. The state disaster management personnel so far recovered the three bodies. Search operation is on to retrieved the fourth body,” said an official.
