Lok Sabha 2024: Former AASU leaders contesting against each other seeking blessings together at Haldibari Nagar Than

Dibrugarh, Mar 24:For the first time, two former All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leaders, who are contesting the Lok Sabha election from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seats, were seen together seeking blessings at Haldibari Nagar Than in Moran on Sunday.

The two AASU leaders, Sarbananda Sonowal and Lurinjyoti Gogoi, engaged in communication at the Haldibari Naghar Than.

Both were seen shaking hands and congratulating each other for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, a heavyweight BJP candidate, and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi, who will be contesting as an INDIA alliance candidate from the prestigious Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat.

Speaking to reporters, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I visited the Haldibari Than to seek blessings. I was once elected from Moran Legislative Assembly as an MLA, and the people gave me love and support, for which I am always indebted. Lots of development has happened in Moran under Chakradhar Gogoi.”

“I have given best wishes to Lurinjyoti Gogoi. It’s a democracy, and we are here to strengthen it. It’s a good thing in democracy,” Sonowal said.

Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, “We were once together in AASU, and Sarbananda Sonowal was a senior leader in the students’ organization at that time. But now, we have different ideologies. We are against CAA, and he supports the CAA. I am with the people of Assam and will do whatever is needed.”

Both leaders visited the historic Haldibari Nagar Than in Moran to seek blessings with their supporters.
