Guwahati, Mar 25: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) workers of winning.
He visited the AGP headquarters on Sunday, and said that, “the BJP’s commitment to offering a promising seat to AGP,” is fulfilled he cited Barpeta as an example where veteran AGP leader Phani Bhushan Choudhury is contesting this time.
He further stated that a seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, fulfilled the promise made during the last assembly polls.
He acknowledged the challenge in Dhubri,and urged AGP workers to strive for victory in both constituencies. Meanwhile, political analysts suggest a bright chance for the AGP-BJP-UPPL alliance in Barpeta due to shifting dynamics.
In the third phase on May 7, AGP and UPPL fielded candidates in three seats, with BJP in one. Himanta Biswa guaranteed BJP’s full support for AGP candidates, and also anticipated a remarkable performance by the alliance in all 14 Assam seats.
AGP hasn’t won a seat since Joseph Toppo’s victory in 2009. Himanta also expressed confidence in both Dhubri and Barpeta, emphasizing ample campaign time for BJP leaders to support AGP candidates.
