Four schoolgirls vanish in Guwahati, families fear worst as search intensifies

Must read

Guwahati, June 2: Four minor girls studying at the same school in Guwahati have gone missing under mysterious circumstances, triggering panic among families and raising fresh concerns over the safety of children in the city.

The missing students have been identified as Rumi Barua, Nirupaya Roy, Ayushree Singh and Jilmil Daimari, all students of Beltola Majhipara Middle English School in the Basistha-Beharbari area.

According to family members, the girls left for school on Monday morning like any other day but never returned home. When repeated attempts to contact and trace them failed, worried relatives approached Basistha Police Station and lodged missing-person complaints.

The disappearance of four students from the same school on the same day has sent shockwaves through the locality, with anxious parents and residents demanding swift action from authorities.

Police have launched an investigation and are examining all possible angles, including whether the girls left together voluntarily or if there was any external influence involved.
The case comes barely hours after another missing-students alert in Assam ended on a positive note.

On Monday, four students from Jorhat—two boys and two girls—who had gone missing after leaving for school were traced in Shillong following an intensive search operation.
The Guwahati case, however, remains unresolved, with families spending an agonising night waiting for answers.

As the search continues, police have appealed for information that could help trace the missing girls.

The incident has once again put the spotlight on child safety and the growing number of cases involving students disappearing after leaving for school, leaving parents across Assam deeply concerned.
