Shillong, October 9: Nearly a hundred residents of Mawdiangdiang and nearby Mawkasiang received free eye check-ups and spectacles at a community eye camp jointly organized by the North-East Centre for Community Impact and Engagement (NECCIE) of IIM Shillong and Mission Nethralaya on October 8.
Held at the Mawdiangdiang Dorbar Office, the initiative aimed to improve access to quality eye care services in the region, reflecting IIM Shillong’s growing role in community-focused health and social development initiatives.

A total of 94 participants, aged between 4 and 84 years, benefited from the camp, including students from Quiditto Lower Primary School and local residents. The services provided ranged from comprehensive eye examinations and vision testing to the distribution of free medicines and spectacles.
Optometrists from Mission Nethralaya conducted on-site assessments and provided guidance for further treatment where necessary. The active support of the Mawdiangdiang Dorbar ensured smooth coordination and enthusiastic community participation.
The camp forms part of NECCIE–IIM Shillong’s broader effort to promote inclusive and sustainable community development across Meghalaya and the North East through impactful partnerships in education, healthcare, and social well-being.
