Shillong, Nov 23: Early trends have come in for the counting of votes for Gambegre bye-poll. The early trends show National People’s Party (NPP) in the lead.
NPP is followed by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and Congress.
The postal ballots were counted at 8 AM. There were 32 postal ballots.
NPP has polled 12 votes, AITC at 9 and Congress received 8 postal ballots.
This effectively means NPP’s Dr Mehtab Chandee A Sangma secured 12 votes, AITC Candidate Sadhiarani Sangma got 9 votes, and Congress candidate Jingjang M Marak got 8 votes.
Other candidates in the fray, BJP’s Bernard N Marak and independent candidates Sengkrabirth M Marak and Jerry A Sangma, not get receive any postal ballot.
3 postal votes were rejected.
Following the postal ballot, the EVM votes will be counted.
A total of 14 tables will be used for the counting and results will be declared in 4 rounds.
