Shillong, Sept 27: The Homestays from Garo Hills made a splash at ‘The Indian Responsible Tourism State Summit & Awards 2023 – The Meghalaya Chapter’, which were given out here on Wednesday.
The event was organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Outlook Magazine, on World Tourism Day at the State Convention Centre in Shillong.
The awards were given by Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh.
The awards were broadly categorised into three main categories with further sub categories:
– Sustainable Leadership – Recognizing excellence in Homestays, B&Bs & Guesthouses, and Travel Enterprises.
– Sustainable Experiences – Highlighting sustainability efforts in Food and Architecture.
– Sustainability Champions – Honoring Grassroots Heroes and Cultural Ambassadors.
In the BNBs category, Greendale Homestay and Dongrama Homestay won the gold. The silver went to Manna Inspira.
In the Homestays Category, Do Patchi Homestay won silver.
Deepak N Marak was conferred Gold at the ‘Grassroots Heroes’ category.
In the Travel Enterprises Category, Wild Tour Garo Hills win silver.
In Architecture Category, Sembertush A. Sangma won silver.
