Giving jobs to youth is not an ‘election candy’, CM Golay says it’s commitment to ‘Yuva’s Bharosha’

Gangtok, Feb 29: With 26,000 plus regularization of employees and 11,000 appointment orders, Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay fouses on ‘Yuva’s Bharosha’ for the 2024 elections.

In an event organized by the Sikkim Govt’s Department of Personnel at Rangpo in Gangtok District today, a massive turnout of temporary Govt job holders were promised with the memorandum of recruitment as well as job orders for fresh applicants.

A Yuva Bharosha Samellan was announced for on March 7.

Golay said that, he had dreamt of ‘working for the people’ and providing employment. He said that “when he was in imprisonment, he always dreamt of the trust the people had. No other CM can bring such initiatives for the people, it takes courage”, he further added.

Golay highlighted how the regularization policy is ideally for group C and D employees, meaning it is upto the post of highest non-gazetted government employees. The gazetted post are through Sikkim Public Service Commission.

Addressing rumours of regularization being ‘mere candy’, Golay said, “Many within the temporary employees refused to believe and told this was merely a candy being sold before elections. But this is not the case, the memorandum issued quashes all the rumours.

Terming the occasion as historic, Golay also promised hike in pay scale of newly regularized in the 6th pay commission.

Among the new addition in fresh job orders, was the creation of Apada Mitra, who will be hired under Sikkim state disaster management authority, with new recruits in every ward and supervisers at Gram panchayat level.

He further announced that, professors and teachers, who fail to fulfil the NCTE norms, will be recruited under Department of Personnel and not under Education Department, as administrative assistants.

With the code of conduct for the elections looming closer, Golay asserted that the newly regularized can join their jobs even during code of conduct, if they have received their orders.
