SHILLONG, Sept 16: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Friday said the government has the intention to create a Mawphlang Division of the department.
Replying to a query raised by Mawphlang legislator Eugeneson Lyngdoh in the Assembly, Tynsong said there is no such proposal for upgradation of the PWD (Roads), Mawphlang Sub-Division to Mawphlang Division.
Lyngdoh asked if there is any intention to create a division, since Mawphlang is the oldest subdivision having over 800 villages under it and keeping in mind that road connectivity is of great concern. He also suggested that the famous David Scott trail can be converted into a motorable road.
Tynsong responded by saying that upgradation does not arise but the government has the intention to create the Mawphlang division.
