Shillong, Nov 19: Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Tuesday said that the government is trying its best to come up with a solution to address issues concerning the different categories of teachers including the SSA teachers in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said, “The process takes time…but the government is doing all possible means and ways to find a solution for all kinds of categories of teachers because they are our people and they are serving our state.”
He also asserted the need for all stakeholders including teachers to work with the government.
On Monday, the Meghalaya SSA Schools’ Association (MSSASA) proposed the need for the state government to provide 70 percent reservation for SSA teachers in the recruitment process for filling up vacant teaching posts in different schools across the state during a meeting chaired by the Commissioner & Secretary in-charge Education Vijay Mantri to discuss the grievances of SSA teachers in Meghalaya.
On this, the minister said this is a policy matter and the government had already considered to relax the upper age limit of the SSA teachers to 45 years so that they are eligible to apply for job recruitment.
