Shillong, July 15: The management of the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute on Friday appealed to its employees not to disrupt the services as it would cause hardship to the citizens, who are in need of emergency services.
This came after the field staff under the banner of the Meghalaya EMRI Workers’ Union (MEMRIWU) had set a 72 hours deadline to the state government to terminate the contract signed with the company.
“We take this opportunity to appeal to all not to resort to disruption of services to cause hardship to the citizens of the state in need of the services at time of emergency. Any grievances can be resolved mutually through discussion,” State head of the GVK EMRI 108 EMS Deepankar Choudhury said in a statement issued here.
Stating that the last tender period is coming to an end, Choudhury said that the Government of Meghalaya has initiated the process for a new tender that is underway.
GVK EMRI run 108 EMS has served the citizens of the state of Meghalaya for 13+ years since February 2009.
“We thank the citizens of the state, Government of Meghalaya and all other stakeholders for the support to make this service a success. We also thank all the staff members of GVK EMRI for the hard work put in by each one over the years,” Choudhury said.
He informed that a total of 3 lac plus emergencies have been handled with 30000 lives saved and more than 2500 deliveries assisted.
The average Urban response time in the last quarter was 17:28 mins and Rural Response time was 22:25 mins, as we continue to serve the people and assure the best services always, he added.
