Tura, Oct 15: A Tura police operation on Thursday has led to the confiscation of high grade heroin drugs from a supplier at Deram Gittim locality of Chitoktak in Tura.

“The police operation led by the anti-narcotics team led to seizure of 4.5 grams of suspected heroin, one insulin syringe, 10 golden tin boxes used for storage of heroin and a plastic vial,” informed West Garo Hills SP V S Rathore to Hub News on Friday.

The accused supplier who was arrested has been identified as a drug supplier by the name of Denis M Sangma, a resident of Chitoktak.

Police said that the value of the 4.5 gram drug consignment was equivalent to 25,000 rupees in the drug market.

It is to be noted that there is a high prevalence of drug addiction and narcotic supply taking place in Tura for the past few years which is leading many young boys astray. Just last year, the son of a high political family in Tura was caught with narcotics by Tura police in Ringrey Area.
