TURA, Sept 21: The High Court of Meghalaya has given its verdict to a PIL directing the state government to ensure uninterrupted power supply to hospitals and emergency centres in the state even as the state continues to grapple with load shedding for a few hours, everyday.
The High Court order on September 20th was made in response to a PIL filed by former GHADC employee and self-styled social activist Flaming B Marak who moved the court over the continuing load shedding in the state and some areas being favoured when it came to distribution of power and load shedding.

Garo Hills and Tura town is also affected by the ongoing load shedding of two hours each day.
The court order stated that since the power situation has improved and several steps to augment power supply have been initiated, which, naturally will take some time, the immediate grievance of the petitioner appears to have been addressed.
The state government should ensure that hospitals and emergency facilities are not disrupted even for a minute due to lack of power supply, directed the court in its order.
