Shillong, Oct 12: Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) on Thursday met with Law Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, seeking a reservation for educational purposes for admission in government educational institutions, including higher and professional studies.
HITO urged the government that some sort of an ordinance should be passed so that Student Communities of the State are not misled and that before the commencement of the next academic session, the Head of the Department should have a proper and clear Reservation Policy for Admission in Government Educational Institution including Higher and Professional Studies.
HITO president D Dkhar said that they had sought a response from the government on this subject but due to the failure of the government to respond they approached the High Court.
“With the intervention of the HC the government through law department said that  Reservation for Education including Higher and Professional Courses are being implemented based on Principle and Spirit of the State Job Reservation Policy,” said Dkhar.
He also added that the minister has assured that the matter will be taken up with the chief minister.
