The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territory Organisation (HITO) rally turned chaotic as state Police had to resort to using tear gas on HITO members after they attempted to storm the main secretariat building.
The leaders of the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) were summoned by the City Police at Sadar PS on Monday for wearing black as their uniform, citing a violation of Section 171 CrPc.
This was done following the untoward incident during the public hearing on August 24 and the alleged instigating of police by two employees of the factory to lathi charge the protesting villagers.
