Shillong, May 12: The Hynniewtrep Integreted Territorial Organization (HITO) on Thursday sought clarification on admission to B.Ed. Degree at the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Rongkhon, Tura and submitted the memorandum on the issue to the Director of Education and Literacy, Ambrose Marak.

Speaking to media persons, President of HITO Donbok Dkhar said there is lack of clarity on the admission rules to be followed by the institution except for the eligibility criteria like percentage of marks and entrance test.

However, he said the HITO needs clarification on whether the state reservation policy is being followed for admission to the B.Ed Course as in the case of other professional courses.

The president of HITO informed that from 50 number of students only 7 students are from Khasi and Jaintia, and that HITO wants a clarification of the criteria, the total numbers of seat as well as seat allotted for Garo, Khasi and Jaintia Category.

HITo also urged the State’s Education department to increase the number of application from 160, which is very limited.

Since there is only one Govt. College for B.Ed courses in the State, the CTE Rongkhon at Tura, Dkhar said that HITO wants the education department of the state to look after all procedures on the matter as per the norms with transparency.
