Shillong, May 11: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) on Thursday met deputy chief minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to urge the state government to initiate schemes under the state education policy to support the less privileged students to pursue higher education.

Speaking to media persons, HITO president Donbok Dkhar said that after the declaration of the HSSLC results, there are many students who expressed that they cannot continue to pursue higher education as their parents cannot afford it.

Dkhar said the organization urged the minister to take up the matter with chief minister to fund and support such less privileged students to pursue their higher education by providing financial assistance through the chief minister’s relief funds.
