SHILLONG, FEB 13: The Hynniewtrep Youth Federation (HNYF) Northern Region has raised concerns over the inadequate services at Nongpoh Civil Hospital, urging MLA Mayral Born Syiem to intervene.
In a letter, the HNYF highlighted issues including the underutilized trauma center, lack of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and insufficient specialist doctors.
“The trauma center is functioning only at 60% capacity, despite having the infrastructure in place,” the letter stated.

The organization also expressed concerns over prisoners and undertrials being accommodated in general wards, creating insecurity among patients.
“There is a need to provide separate accommodation for such people,” they urged.
“We request you to kindly direct the concerned department to take action at the earliest,” the letter added.
