Tura, March 5: The annual Varsity Week of ICFAI University Meghalaya, Tura campus, commenced on Thursday with a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) e-sports tournament, marking the start to the week-long celebrations.
Held at the campus auditorium, the tournament drew many participation from students representing different houses, transforming the venue into a digital arena as teams battled it out in high-stakes matches.
The opening event showcased strong strategic gameplay, technical skill and coordination among participants, while fellow students gathered in large numbers to cheer for their respective teams, creating an electrifying atmosphere on campus.
Organised as the “Kickstart” event of Varsity Week, the tournament also served as a platform to foster camaraderie and teamwork among students, reflecting the growing prominence of e-sports within the academic community.
An event coordinator said the enthusiasm displayed by students highlights the evolving nature of varsity competitions. “Seeing the students engage so passionately with e-sports is a testament to the changing landscape of campus sports. The excitement today sets a vibrant tone for the athletic and cultural events lined up for the rest of the week,” the coordinator said.
