India has launched 433 satellites for 34 countries: V Narayanan

Must read

Agartala, May 12: ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan on Sunday emphasized the vital role of satellite technology in ensuring national safety and serving public needs. Speaking at the 5th Convocation of the Central Agricultural University (CAU), he stated that 10 satellites are operating round-the-clock for strategic purposes to safeguard the country and its citizens.

“To ensure the safety of our country, we must serve through our satellites. We need to monitor over 7,000 km of seashore. Without satellite and drone technology, many achievements would remain out of reach,” Narayanan said.

He noted that ISRO’s satellite infrastructure supports not only security but also essential public services including agriculture, tele-education, telemedicine, television broadcasting, weather forecasting, environmental monitoring, and food sector management.

Highlighting the effectiveness of satellites in disaster management, Narayanan remarked that the number of casualties in natural disasters has significantly decreased due to early warning systems powered by satellite data.

He proudly stated that India ranks first globally in nine areas of space science and technology. Recalling ISRO’s milestones, he mentioned the Chandrayaan-1 mission, which was the first to discover evidence of water molecules on the Moon’s surface.

India, according to Narayanan, has launched 433 satellites for 34 countries, further underlining its capabilities. He added that India has developed satellites for G-20 nations to track climate change and other critical parameters.

In a significant development, Narayanan announced that India and the US will jointly build the world’s most advanced and expensive earth-imaging satellite, which will be launched from India.
