New Delhi, Dec 27: India recorded 529 new COVID-19 cases in a single day, as reported by the health ministry on Wednesday. The country’s active infection count currently stands at 4,093, according to the ministry’s data updated at 8 am.
In the last 24 hours, three new fatalities have been reported, with two from Karnataka and one from Gujarat. These figures highlight the ongoing efforts to monitor and control the spread of the virus, emphasising the need for continued vigilance and adherence to public health guidelines.
At the peak of the pandemic, daily cases in India reached into the lakhs. Since the outbreak in early 2020, over 4.5 crore people in the country have been infected, and the toll has surpassed 5.3 lakh deaths.
The number of individuals who have successfully recovered from the disease in India now exceeds 4.4 crore, reflecting a robust national recovery rate of 98.81 per cent, as per data from the health ministry’s website. The case fatality rate stands at 1.19%.
A significant milestone has been achieved in the vaccination drive, with a total of 220.67 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered across the country.
