Indian Army flags off 10-day ‘National Integration Tour’ for youth ambassadors from Manipur

Imphal, Oct 15: In a continued effort to foster unity and inspire the youth, the Indian Army’s Red Shield Division, under the aegis of Spear Corps, flagged off a 10-day ‘National Integration Tour’ for nine Youth Ambassadors from Manipur. The initiative, held under ‘Operation Sadbhavana’, will take the participants to Kolkata, Tawang, and Shillong from October 14 to 23, 2024.

The tour was officially launched in a ceremony at Koirengei, Imphal East, Manipur, by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Red Shield Division on Monday. The journey aims to provide the youth ambassadors with an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of these cities while also gaining exposure to various Indian Army establishments.

In Kolkata in West Bengal, the Youth Ambassadors will visit prominent landmarks, including the iconic Victoria Memorial, and participate in a Heritage Walk at Fort William. They will also tour the headquarters of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command, offering them a glimpse into the military’s operational structure and history.

The second phase of the tour will take the group to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, where they will explore several notable sites such as Sela Pass, Sela Lake, the Tawang Monastery, and Madhuri Lake. In addition, the youth will pay their respects at Bum La Pass and the Tawang War Memorial, honouring soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1962 Indo-China War.

In the final phase, the group will visit Shillong in Meghalaya, where they will experience the natural beauty of places like Dawki, Mawlynnong village (the cleanest village in Asia), Elephant Waterfall, and the Seven Sisters Waterfall. The participants will also meet with the Governor of Meghalaya during their stay.

The tour will conclude in Imphal on October 23, marking the end of a journey aimed at bridging cultural gaps and promoting national unity. This tour will provide the youth ambassadors with exposure to the vibrant culture of the Indian Army and, at the same time, showcase the rich heritage of our country.
