Tura, May 26: Salrime M Sangma, who secured the impressive 3rd rank in this year’s Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Tura, has emerged as a beacon of resilience and determination. Raised by a single mother who runs a small shop and facing immense financial constraints, Salrime’s journey to success is a testament to her unwavering spirit.
What makes her efforts even more outstanding is that she did not take any tuition from nursery till date as she couldn’t afford it.
In a heart-warming gesture, St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School organized a special program to honour Salrime’s remarkable achievement. The school community joined together to sing the traditional school anthem, expressing their pride and admiration for the accomplished student.
Speaking to Hub News about her exam preparation and achievement, Salrime shared, “I dedicated 3-4 hours to studying every day.” She expressed gratitude to God, her mother, the school principal, and all her teachers who provided constant guidance and support throughout her academic journey.
Salrime also revealed her aspirations to become an IAS officer, stating, “I will pursue the science stream. My aim in life is to become an IAS Officer.”
Reflecting on the challenges she faced during the exams, Salrime highlighted the difficulty she encountered in the English section. “I found the English section very challenging because I come from the Garo section,” she explained.
However, these obstacles did not deter Salrime’s determination to excel. She remains resolute in her pursuit of her dreams, stating, “I am happy with my achievements, but I believe I can do more.”
When asked about her message to fellow students, Salrime urged them to have self-belief and approach their exams with confidence. She encouraged them not to underestimate themselves and to repeat affirmations such as “I can do it.”
