Shillong, December 22: A day when the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) MDCs and staff set aside their offices and hectic work and came together to celebrate Christmas—the Birth of Jesus Christ—at the Council campus on Friday.

This festive occasion was the Council’s first ever Christmas celebration hosted by the KHADC. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma graced the gathering and, in his brief address, pledged a firm commitment to lend support to the Council.

The festivities resonated with the vibrant presence of the Council’s staff members, along with esteemed guests such as the Judicial Magistrate and judges from the District Council Courts. Decked with beautiful decorations and vibrant lighting, the KHADC campus is in high Christmas spirit, making everyone there feel joyful and excited.

The highlight of the evening was the melodic fusion of English and Khasi songs performed by several choirs, causing everyone present to clap and join in singing the Christmas songs.

The event got really exciting when CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem, along with the other MDCS, performed a Christmas special number. Lastly, the talented five-time MDC, Bindo Lanong, despite his old age, performed a beautiful Khasi Christmas song, also showcasing his guitar skills.
