Nongpoh February 26 : The Khasi Students Union of the Nongpoh Circle met Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ri Bhoi, Arpit Upadhyay on Monday to apprise him of the complaints regarding the overcharging of school textbooks by handful of bookstores in Ïew Mawlong, Nongpoh.

Under the leadership of KSU Education Secretary Baïashanlang Kharshanlor, the Students Union has taken this initiative, as this practice created a stumbling block for parents who had to purchase school books at inflated rates.

According to the KSU, these bookstores were making profits ranging from 15 to 20 Rupees per book.

Additionally, on Monday, the KSU Education Cell of Nongpoh Circle inspected the bookstores in Iew Mawlong, only to discover the malpractice taking place firsthand.
