As the second phase of parliamentary elections unfolds in Assam, the voter turnout stands at 46.31% across the constituencies.

The Darrang-Udalguri constituency records a turnout with 49.72% of voters casting their ballots by midday

In Diphu, the polling percentage is at 46.40%, participation of the electorate in the democratic process

Karimganj constituency has a polling percentage of 49.14%

Nagaon reports a polling percentage of 44.48%

In Silchar, voter turnout stands at 40.23%, as citizens exercise their electoral right

In Outer Manipur, the polling percentage stands at 54.26%

In Tripura East, the polling percentage is reported to be 54.47%

Polling is currently underway in seven constituencies across North East India, including five in Assam and one each in Manipur and Tripura, as citizens exercise their democratic rights in the ongoing parliamentary elections.

By 11 am, a significant voter turnout of about 33 percent was recorded in the seven constituencies.

Since the early hours of the morning, people are queuing in the polling stations in large numbers, to take part in the electoral process.

The polling percentage across the region, stands at with Assam recording 27.43%, Manipur at 33.22%, and Tripura leading with 36.42%.

In the Assam phase of the parliamentary elections, encompassing constituencies such as Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Nagaon, and Silchar, the polling percentages at 11 am stood at Darrang-Udalguri at 28.81%, Diphu at 30.82%, Karimganj at 29.99%, Nagaon at 25.29%, and Silchar at 23.20%.

The collective polling percentage across these constituencies has reached the 35% mark, indicating a strong voter turnout and active participation.

Polling is underway in 7 constituencies across North East, including 5 in Assam and one each in Manipur and Tripura. At 11 am, the polling percentage recorded was about 25 percent. People have turned out in large number across all polling stations since early morning to exercise their democratic rights.

BJP’s S candidate Parimal Suklabaidya casts vote in Silchar Constituency

Guwahati: BJP Silchar Lok Sabha candidate and State Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Friday casted his vote at Irongmara primary school in Dholai, Cachar.

Speaking to media persons, Parimal Suklabaidya said, “I have casted my vote and I have to see people are coming out to vote. If the weather is good, then above 80 % voter turnout will be recorded in Silchar Lok Sabha constituency. We are sure that people will cast their vote in favour of Narendra Modi for him to become the Prime Minister for a third term,”.

“We have not seen any opponents in Silchar. We have seen no opposition party in Silchar during the meetings, so we are confident enough to win the seat easily,” Suklabaidya stated.

Out of 13 lakh 51 thousand voters, the number of male voters were 6 lakh 76 thousand 331 whereas the remaining 6 lakh 75 thousand 141 were females. Another 24 voters were transgenders.

According to the latest figures, in Lakhipur total voters were 1,68,202, in Udharbond 1,84,372, in Katigorah 2,09,658, in Borkhola 1,99,152, in Silchar 2,13,386, in Sonai 1,85, 952 and in Dholai (SC), the total number of voters were 1,90,774.

Polling is underway in 88 constituencies across 13 States. The voting began at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm.

In Northeast, polling is underway in 7 constituencies spread across Assam, Tripura and Manipur. Of which five are in Assam – Diphu, Nagaon, Silchar, Karimganj and Darrang-Udalguri. The Muslim voters are dominant in Nagaon and Karimganj, which will be closed watched in the second phase of the polls. In 2019, four of the five seats that is polling today were won by the BJP.

In Tripura, polling is underway for the East Tripura constituency. Close of 14 lakh electorates will exercise their franchise. These is a tribal constituency, where the BJP alliance has fielded Kriti Devi Debbarma, sister of Tipra Motha Chief Pradyut Debbarma. The INDIA alliance candidate is a former communist party MLA Rajendra Reang.

In this phase Congress party’s Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, who are looking to retain Kerala’s Wayanad and Thiruvananthapuram respectively are also in the fray.

The outer Manipur constituency, reserved for ST has over 4 lakh voters across 13 assembly segment in eight hill districts. Security has been tightened in the constituency for the polling today to prevent any untoward incidents. 87 companies of central armed police forces have been deployed in the polling stations, in addition to 4000 plus State police force. Over 3,400 polling personnel are being deployed for the second phase.
