Loyola College and NEHU, Tura Campus organises one-day seminar on the importance of NEP 2020

Tura, Oct 25: Loyola College organised a one-day seminar in collaboration with NEHU, Tura, on NEP 2020 on October 22. The college deliberately discussed on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 with the intention to prepare the staff for its implementation in higher education (as the country is gearing up for its implementation).

The inaugural function was graced by the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani IAS. He expressed that the new policy is set to free students from several procedural hurdles and to lay foundation for a student-friendly and a flexible structures in higher education.

Prof. Subudhi, HoD, Department of Education, NEHU Tura discussed the challenges to introduce NEP 2020 in colleges. One of the features of NEP 2020 is the focus on skill development and employability of graduates. Dr. Binu Mathew from the Department of Rural Development and Agricultural Production (RDAP), NEHU, Tura delivered his talk on the potential skill development programmes in Agriculture under the policy.

The third speaker, Prof. JU Ahmed of the Department of Management, NEHU Tura, interacted with the participants on Holistic Education Approach for Societal Requirements in NEP 2020.

The seminar was attended by 60 participants, along with researches from NEHU, Tura campus, and Asst. Professors of Government College, Williamnagar, Mendipathar College and Loyola College.

During the valedictory function, Dr. Binu Mathew handed over the approval of the University to collaborate with Loyola College in its skill development courses, their assessment and certification. Mr. Biraj K Marak, HoD, Department of Education, Loyola College, thanked the resource persons and participants for their enriching discussion on NEP 2020.
