Guwahati, Apr 4: A six-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father inside a moving train at Silanibari in Lakhimpur district on Friday, officials said.

The incident occurred around 9:15 am inside a general coach of the 15813 Dekargaon–Murkongselek Express. According to railway authorities, the accused was immediately apprehended following the incident.

Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot promptly and took the man into custody. Eyewitness statements were recorded, and necessary legal formalities were completed.

The train resumed its journey from Silanibari at around 10:58 am after the investigation procedures at the site were concluded.

Officials said the motive behind the killing is yet to be determined, and further investigation is underway.
