Man sentenced to 14 years in POCSO case in Nongstoiñ

Shillong, April 4: One person identified as Hamidul Ali was convicted and sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor victim in 2020.

In its judgment on March 27, the Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, on appreciation of all the evidences uncovered during the investigation, ruled the case against the accused person Hamidul Ali @ Islam @ Rahul, convicting and sentencing him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 10 years with fine of Rs 25,000 for the offence committed on penetrative sexual assault and simple imprisonment for a period of 4 years with fine of Rs 10,000 for the offences of kidnapping and in default of payment of fine, he will be sentenced for further Simple Imprisonment of 6 months.

Ali had kidnapped and sexually assault a minor victim on June 20, 2020.

A case was registered with the Shallang police station and it was endorsed to WPSI B. Dkhar of Nongstoin Women Police Station for thorough investigation.

After completion of investigation, the case was chargesheeted and the same was submitted to the Court of Special Judge (POCSO) Nongstoin for trial.
