Shillong, March 13: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Thursday informed that the upgradation of Manggakgre Sub-Centre into a Public Health Centre (PHC) is in progress.
Replying in the Assembly, Lyngdoh said that the facilities that will be available in the PHC after completion will be out patient department (OPD) services, 10 bedded in-patient department (IPD), labour room facilities, lab facilities, emergency services, pharmacy and residential quarters for medical and para medical staffs etc.
She informed that the foundation stone for the upgradation of the sub centre was in 2022.
“We were able to float tender on January 18, 2023 and work began in January 2025 and the progress of work is at 85%,” Lyngdoh added.
According to her, pending the completion of the upgradation process, the centre is still functioning as a sub centre.
“Works are ongoing and once building is completed necessary HR will be sent to man this PHC,” she assured.
The minister has also noted the request made by TMC legislator Rupa Marak for speeding up the upgradation process.
