Imphal, July 5: Around 2000 village defence volunteers on Wednesday come out in protest against the killing of David Thiek at Lamka public field in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
The volunteers were tipped to take a revenge against the gruesome killing of David Thiek at Langza during the Meiteis attacked on the village in the wee hours.
The rally passed through the Tipaimukh road , IB Road and followed the Tedim till reaching the place where fallen heroes dummy coffins were kept, it is called Wall of Remembrance.
During a short program observed an encouragement speech was heard from prominent leaders and a drama was staged.
According to reports, four men were killed in a violence in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on July 2. David Thiek, who was guarding the village died during the unprovoked attack.
Thiek was killed when Kuki-Zo tribal villages of Langza and Chinglangmei were attacked in retaliation.
