Manipur, along with Meghalaya and Tripura, marked its 53rd Statehood Day with vibrant cultural programs and various celebrations. These three northeastern states attained full statehood on January 21, 1972.

In his address, Singh stressed the need for open discussions to address misunderstandings and doubts among communities. He reiterated the government’s commitment to identifying and deporting illegal immigrants while ensuring no harm to long-standing residents or old settlers of the state.

“The government has never taken any steps or made statements against those who have lived here for decades. All 33 to 34 communities in Manipur must coexist peacefully,” he said.

He further called on the people to work collectively to build a prosperous Manipur rooted in harmony, justice, and dignity.
