Imphal, June 30: In a new development into the ongoing crisis in Manipur, Chief minister N Biren Singh is likely to put his resignation on Friday.
According to sources, CM Biren Singh will be handing over his resignation to Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at around 1 PM.
This comes days after CM failed to resort to peace in the state.
As per the reports, he was given the option of either resigning or else the Centre would take over.
Following which CM has decided to tender his resignation.
Sources also said that the Assembly is likely to be kept under animated suspension.
After almost sixty days of unrest in the state, so far 130 people have lost their lives in the clash between Meiteis and the Kukis and thousands of people have been displaced and several houses have been burnt and damages have been made since May 3.
This comes at a time when Congress leader and former party president Rahul Gandhi is in Imphal to meet the people in the relief camps.
Rahul arrived in Imphal on Thursday and will be there till Friday (June 29-30).
CM had earlier visited relief camp at Lamphel and interacted with the displaced persons.He also extended financial aid & assistance to the affected families and individuals besides the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities.
