Imphal, Apr 21:In an intensified crackdown on insurgent groups, Manipur police have arrested eight more militants affiliated with the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) and rescued four individuals, including three women, in the last 24 hours.
The arrests bring the total number of extremists detained over the past 48 hours to 20, with police recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition across various districts.

Acting on a tip-off, security forces launched a coordinated operation on Sunday night at a suspected militant hideout in Heirok, Thoubal district. Seven hardcore cadres of the KCP (PWG) were apprehended during the raid.
A substantial quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from their possession. The recovered items include two INSAS rifles, one INSAS Light Machine Gun, one carbine, one MK-11 rifle, approximately 170 rounds of assorted ammunition, a radio handset, a two-wheeler, a car, multiple identity cards, and several incriminating documents.
Authorities continue to intensify their operations across the state to root out militant activities and ensure public safety.
