Imphal, Mar 4: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a crucial security meeting at Raj Bhavan today to assess the law and order situation in the state. The meeting was attended by top officials, including Chief Secretary P.K. Singh, Security Advisor Kuldip Singh, and DGP Rajiv Singh.
The discussion focused on the Home Ministry’s directive to open all roads in the Meitei-dominated valley and Kuki-controlled hills, aiming to restore peace in the state. This move follows a high-level review led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on March 1.
Notably, over 4,100 weapons have been surrendered since the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur and the Governor’s directive. The Centre has also prioritized fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border to curb illegal cross-border activities linked to the unrest.
Today’s meeting holds significance as the governor pushes to restore peace in the troubled state, which has witnessed violence for the past two years.
