Imphal, Dec 30: Manipur government has put in place preventive measures after a woman, who recently returned to state from Delhi, tested COVID-19 positive.
The infected woman, who tested positive on Thursday, is reportedly in good health with no apparent issues. She had travelled from Delhi to Dimapur before taking a bus to Paomata in Senapati.
In response to this case, the Manipur government has set up monitoring booths at Imphal airport, where a dedicated medical team is stationed. Passengers exhibiting COVID symptoms or arriving from areas with confirmed infections undergo testing at the airport to curb the potential spread of the virus.
To determine the specific variants involved, authorities have sent the infected woman’s sample to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for genome sequencing.
