Imphal, Aug 08: The students under the leadership of the Joint Student Body (JSB) on Tuesday held a protest at Lamka Medical College with the support of the parents for not getting permission to attend NIT classes in Manipur.
As many as 50 students belonging to the Kuki-Zo tribe studying at NIT Manipur, located at Langol in Imphal, have not been able to rejoin classes even after their classes began on July 27, 2023.
While speaking to media persons, Suanlian Tonsing appealed to the higher authorities to make an alternative arrangement by assigning another college either like Mizoram or any other place other than Langol.
Thangmonlal, while terming the Imphal valley as ‘valley of dead’, noted it is out of question to even think of joining classes in the valley areas.
He made an appeal to the authorities informing transfer is the only viable solution which was supported by Francis, another NIT students of the institute who said authorities have ensured start of the class since the July 27th but no iota of consideration was given for the educational future of the Kuki-Zo students.
