Imphal, May 28: In a significant political development in Manipur, BJP MLA and former minister Thokchom Radheshyam on Wednesday claimed that all 44 MLAs are ready to form a new government in the state. However, the final decision now rests with the party’s central leadership.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan along with nine other BJP legislators, Radheshyam said, “All 44 MLAs have agreed to form a popular government as per the wishes of the people. We have conveyed this to the Governor. The Speaker has met with MLAs both individually and jointly. There is no opposition to forming the government.”

He further added, “People are facing too much hardship. Two years were lost to COVID, and another two years due to conflict. It’s time to respond to the public’s aspirations.”
The group of ten MLAs represented the larger legislative bloc in discussions with the Governor. Radheshyam, who represents the Heirok Assembly constituency, emphasized that while the MLAs have signaled readiness, “the final call will be taken by the party’s central leadership, as we are a national party.”
Sources also confirmed that caretaker Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had separately met with the Governor on Tuesday evening.
