Imphal, April 22: Security forces apprehended three active cadres of the proscribed militant outfit PREPAK (Pro) on Monday at Ngakhapat Adventure Kharok in Imphal East district of Manipur.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Nongthombam Maingou Singh (33), Nongthombam Mohen Singh (45), and Keisham Sana Leima alias Tamphasana and Lingjel (40).

According to reports, the trio was involved in the recent kidnapping of two individuals near Naorem Birahari College in Khundrakpam, allegedly to demand ransom.

Security personnel recovered a .32 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with five rounds, six mobile phones, a black waist belt, and two two-wheeler vehicles from their possession, an official said.

This operation is part of a broader crackdown by security forces following the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur. So far, a total of 11 insurgents affiliated with various underground groups have been arrested, along with the recovery of arms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police have launched a special drive to recover stolen and snatched vehicles from miscreants and anti-social elements. Thirteen cars of various types were recovered from different locations during the operation.

In a public advisory, Manipur Police urged citizens not to believe in rumours or misleading videos circulating online. The police also appealed to the public to voluntarily surrender looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the nearest police station or security force unit.
