Guwahati, Feb 11: The Government of Manipur has issued an urgent appeal to all residents, urging them to remain calm and refrain from falling prey to misinformation, rumors, or unverified news that could disrupt peace and harmony in the state.
In a statement released today, Chief Secretary P.K. Singh highlighted the growing concern over misleading information being circulated through various channels, causing confusion and unrest among citizens. The government warned that certain unscrupulous individuals and groups are deliberately attempting to incite disturbances and spread fear through false information and inflammatory narratives.
“These malicious attempts are intended to create lawlessness,” the statement read, “and the public is strongly advised not to heed such misinformation or incitement.”
To counter this threat and ensure accurate dissemination of information, the government has established a 24×7 Control Room. Citizens are encouraged to verify any news or information by contacting the Control Room at 9485280419.
The government emphasized the collective responsibility of maintaining peace and order in the state, warning that any attempts to incite violence or disrupt harmony will be dealt with strictly under the law.
The appeal extended to community leaders, civil society organizations, religious heads, student groups, intellectuals, and ordinary citizens to foster unity and work toward rebuilding trust across communities.
“Let us prioritize peace, understanding, and development for the betterment of our beloved state,” the statement urged.
The Government of Manipur assured citizens of its commitment to safeguarding peace and security while encouraging cooperation from all residents. For any clarifications or concerns, the public is urged to contact the Control Room or their nearest authorities.
