Imphal, June 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday appealed to the people of Manipur to lift the blockades at the Imphal-Dimapur, NH-2 Highway.
Taking to Twitter Shah made a sincere appeal to the people of the state so that food, medicines, Petrol/Diesel, and other necessary items can reach to the people of the state.
He also requested the Civil Society Organisations to do the needful in bringing consensus.
Shah in his Tweet said, “Together only we can restore normalcy in this beautiful state.”

Earlier on Saturday, the security advisor to the Manipur government, Kuldip Singh, said peace is returning to the state after a wave of ethnic clashes and violence and normality is being restored.
On Friday, the Manipur Police said that a total of 140 weapons have been surrendered in the state at different places a day after an appeal was made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent four-day visit to the state.
Manipur Police informed that weapons including SLR 29, .32 pistol, smoke gun, stun gun, JVP, Carbine, AK, INSAS Rifle, INSAS LMG, modified rifle, .303 Rifle, locally made pistol, 9mm pistol, M16 rifle, and tear gas and a grenade launcher was surrounded.
Amit Shah also addressed a press conference in Imphal, where he urged all communities and sections of the society in the state to maintain peace and hold discussions and promote harmony.

 He also warned of strict action against those who will be found possessing weapons during the combing operation by the police.
