Manipur Violence: Two bike-borne miscreants hurl bomb at MLA’s residence in Imphal, no casualties

Imphal, June 9: Manipur Police on Thursday said that two bike-borne miscreants hurled and exploded a low-intensity IED bomb at the gate of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency MLA Soraisam Kebi’s residence at Ningthemcha Karong under Singjamei PS in Imphal West.

Police said, no casualties were reported, except for a few holes in the ground.

The blast did not cause any major damage, the police said.

This incident was reported hours after Advisor (Security) to the Manipur government Kuldiep Singh on Thursday said that the situation in the state remained peaceful and under control and no incident of violence was reported in the last 48 hours in the Northeast state.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved a relief package worth Rs 101.75 crore for the people of violence-hit state.

Kuldiep Singh said a total of 896 arms and 11,763 ammunition and 200 bombs of different kinds have been recovered to date.
