SHILLONG, FEB 23: NPP legislator from Mawhati Charles Marngar on Monday lauded the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government’s development initiatives, saying it stands for “Master of Development with Action”.

“Today I stand here to thank the government, our MDA government for the work being done for our people… Development is visible, progress is measurable and action is evident,” Marngar said during the debate on the Governor’s Address.

He appreciated the government for implementing schemes even in constituencies represented by opposition members, saying, “This shows that the government is not guided by political differences but by the genuine desire to fulfill the needs and aspirations of the people of every constituency.”

Using the Khasi word “LAHUN” (satisfied), Marngar said, “I may not be 100% satisfied… However, after joining this government, I am truly happy to share that the constituency I represent… has finally begun to see the light of hope.”

Highlighting progress in his constituency, he cited completion of 20 km of PMGSY road from Mawlasnai to Kdohhati, and ongoing work on other projects.

Marngar also thanked the government for initiatives like JJM, CRD block creation, and CM ASSURE, which increased broomgrass procurement price from Rs25-30 to Rs55 per kg, benefiting over 13,000 farmers.

“This is the first time in the history of broomgrass farmers that such a historic intervention has taken place,” he said.
